Our time on the beach is stammering to an end: We have to figure out what we will do between December 3 and December 11. That’s about a week to get from one isolated island in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand to another island on the southern tip of Southeast Asia.
But we figured it out! Where we’re going next:
Penang
Penang looks like it will turn out to be the sleeper hit of the trip, due to its many cafes and food stalls. And, Georgetown, the main city on the island of Penang, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which means it’ll be charming (and probably crowded.)
Kuala Lumpur

Kiwi worked in KL for about a month a few years ago. Will be cool to look up at the Petronas Towers and explore a major modern Asian city.
Singapore

The main things I’m looking forward to: Seeing one of my best friends and the three of us going to a hawker center (hawkre centre?) and eating everything (chicken rice and chili crab please) and washing it down with Tiger beer and wiping my face with roti.
Then: Going to Marina Bay Sands to swim in a infinity pool on top of a skyscraper. (I don’t actually know if you can do this without staying at the resort.)
Got any bar or cafe recs for Penang, KL or Singapore? Please share!
